New occupants of industrial sites may need to dispose of
unfamiliar, bulky specialist plant and machinery left by a
previous occupant. There has always been a ready home and
overseas market for individual pieces of machinery through dealer
and auctioneers. In recent years, however, the sale of complete
factories and plants such as breweries, by specialist agents has
become more common, and appropriate advice should always be
sought before calling in scrap merchants.

A suggestion from the team at the Rocky Mountain Materials
Exchange: Consider a "graveyard auction" of the
unwanted equipment each factory has in its yard. These materials
currently take up valuable space and as they rust and age,
decline in value.
